Hooray Yet ANOTHER distraction!!

I have realised I can get distracted far to easily with all this technology!!!

Google Earth

Google Earth has just made my night. As you maybe or will know I am originally from England and I talk about it all quite a lot and try to show my boyfriend where I used to live but it would never zoom it that far. I figured because it is a tiny village in the countryside Google would not really bother with it, well! I was proved wrong tonight. I can actually walk down my old road and walk past my house! It is just amazing! Cannot wait to show and bore all my Aussie friends. It truly has amazed me and brought a tear to my eye!

The possibilities are endless with this software. You can tour the world all from a click of a button and project it onto the board. You can walk down the streets of Paris from the comfort of your classroom! It excites me what the next stage to Google Earth will bring.

  1. Hi Laura,

I believe also that Google Earth is going to be a wonderful learning tool within the classrooms when it comes to learning about geography. As now children can access the internet and look up anything and everything when it come to Google Earth and other sites. Student will beable to learn more and experience more while learning about the World as well as Australia. Assignments can and will become more involved with using Google Earth which will allow the students in the class to learn more and be more interested in what is being dicussed instead of looking at some pictures stuck onto a piece of cardboard (like what most of use would of just had to do). The way the technology is now going will allow students of all ages to be able to experience so much more wihtin there learning therefore allowing them to take more away from that lesson then just a map and a bit of information.

  2. Hi Laura, All this technology is great, but I too am getting distracted and off task. With each new learning tool it's like a shinny new toy and you just want to play with it. Lana

  3. Hey
Yes I know. It is so bad, but so fun! You have to have a play around so that you can find new ideas and settings that you would never have found. We just have to find an appropriate time to do it!!

  5. Hey
Yes it certainly has. You can so easily become submersed in all the different sites and then you forget where you were to start with!

  6. Hey,
I use this program already and it has been a great help to when we have gone a big road trips to find our best route. Students would engage with this technology as they could look for their house or even plan a trip of their own. It is definately a very interesting site!
